Be part of a community
that heals together

At Walk Intuit Ranch, healing begins with connection — to the herd, to the land, and to each other. Our volunteers make this possible by tending to the daily rhythms of care that sustain our animals and nourish the heart of our work.

How to Become a
Walk Intuit Volunteer

Joining our volunteer community is a meaningful process.
Here's what to expect every step of the way.

1

Step One

Submit Your Application

Complete the Volunteer Application, Waiver, and a $25 non-refundable administrative fee. This fee covers the cost of processing your application regardless of the outcome.

2

Step Two

Background Check & References

We'll conduct a Megan's Law clearance and reach out to your listed references as part of our review process.

3

Step Three

Attend a Volunteer Orientation

Applicants who move forward will be invited to complete a Volunteer Orientation with Walk Intuit staff. This is your chance to get to know us, our animals, and how we work.

4

Step Four

Formal Training

Volunteers who are a good fit and feel ready to take the next step will be scheduled for a Formal Training session. During training, you'll demonstrate your understanding of and readiness to follow all Walk Intuit rules, protocols, and direction.

5

Step Five

Sign Your Volunteer Contract

After successful completion of Formal Training, you'll be invited to sign your Volunteer Contract — and officially join our community. We'd also love for you to consider becoming a supporter. You'll find more on that at the end of the application!

We can't wait to welcome you into the herd.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome volunteers of all experience levels
who want to support our healing herd.

Essential Guidelines

A Few Things to Know

  • Ranch volunteer roles involve physically demanding tasks and direct horse interaction. Volunteers must be capable of handling manual labor, uneven terrain, and emergency situations. Have physical limitations? Contact us — we have event, administrative, and marketing roles too.
  • Volunteers must be 8 years or older. Children under 8 are not permitted during volunteer shifts.
  • Minors (under 18) must attend orientation and all volunteer shifts with a parent or guardian present.
  • Parents must actively assist their child with all tasks. Our animals are large, sensitive beings who require calm, attentive care.

Our Community Includes

You Belong Here

  • Students earning service hours (with parent/guardian assistance)
  • Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and youth groups
  • People who love horses but can't afford to own one
  • Anyone wanting to give back to a mission of healing
  • Individuals completing community service hours
  • “I jumped at the unique opportunity to volunteer with the W.I. herd 13 months ago! I’ve come to enjoy working with the horses through feeding and mucking stables. Chickens have been added to the barn now too! It’s very easy and flexible to sign up. The W.I. staff are very helpful and grateful for their volunteers!”
